Helensburgh house destroyed by fire

More than 30 firefighters have managed to extinguish a large fire that broke out at a home on Bulgo Road, Helensburgh just after 2am today.

Numerous crews from across the Illawarra region arrived on scene a short time later and battled the blaze under windy conditions, firefighters managed to bring the fire under control and stop it from spreading to neighbouring properties, however the home was completely destroyed.

Two elderly residents were alerted to the fire, due to a working smoke alarm and managed to safely evacuate the premises, prior to firefighters arrival.
